ECO4 Scheme
What is ECO4?
The UK Government’s Energy Company Obligation, or ECO4 scheme, is an energy efficiency programme that addresses fuel poverty and encourages the reduction of carbon emissions.
The current ECO4 Scheme runs until 2026 and is funded by the largest UK Energy Companies. It is part of a broader eco scheme aimed at improving energy efficiency in homes. It provides fully funded grants to improve the efficiency of domestic properties.
The scheme helps create an energy efficient home by providing grants for various improvements.
The grants cover full on and off gas heating systems, gas boiler upgrades, air source heat pumps, insulation upgrades, heating improvements, energy saving upgrades and other insulation measures such as loft, cavity wall, room in roof and internal wall insulation.

ECO4 Grant Application: How It Works
Am I eligible for the ECO4 scheme?
Energy efficiency measures are available under the ECO4 scheme for both homeowners and private tenants. The property must meet the minimum energy efficiency requirements to qualify. There must be someone residing in the property that receives one of the qualifying benefits below. Understanding the eligibility criteria is crucial for navigating the application process effectively.
The property must have an energy performance certificate (EPC) with a rating of an E or below to qualify.
The measures installed in the project must improve the overall property efficiency rating by at least 2 sap bands, to a D or higher.
Qualifying benefits for ECO4 grants
To qualify for an ECO4 grant, individuals must be recipients of specific benefits. Below is a comprehensive list of benefits that make households eligible for assistance under the ECO4 scheme, including income related benefits:
